In Brooklyn, we have an endless list of bars at our fingertips at any moment. If you don’t believe me head over to Yelp. But to find a good bar with character, now that’s not an easy feat. Remember good or bad is totally based on your personal preference.
To be honest, some bars depress me, others are way way too loud, while others feature gloomy uninterested bartenders that appear to have more important plans than serving me. Others serve obnoxious cocktails and the atmosphere is tasteless. And I can go on.
Needless to say, I’m not your typical bar person. As I can easily sit at a bar in a restaurant that’s pleasing to me and have a great bar experience.
i find I’m most comfortable in a bar that attractive in aesthetics and space. Dimly lit. Fill with conversations in loud voices with burst of laughter. All of which seems to be competing with the loud music that’s pleasing to the ear and dominates the atmosphere but not enough to take me away from my conversation(s).
A space where I’m comfortable with a crowd that’s intoxicated by the spirits and the moments. A bar menu of tasty bites that provides me the option to nibble as I sip.
I found that at, The Springs (read more about The Springs here), minus the nibbles. Whenever The Springs are a part of my plan (which of late has been a few times a week to be honest). It’s always dinner first drinks after plans.
November 1st marks the beginning of a beautiful collaboration between The Springs and Fornino (read more about Fornino here). And I no longer have the above issue. I fell in love with the creativity of Fornino’s dishes and pizza a few months ago. I enjoy having a gluten-free option for Pizza and the comfort of their signature dishes. I have ranked them in my top three for Pizza in Brooklyn.
For the Fall and Winter, The Spring well crafted cocktails and bar menu can now be paired with Fornino’s Signature Italian dishes. The Springs will exclusively serve food from Fornino.
Fornino’s Executive Chef and owner Michael Ayoub will serve his signature dishes, nightly at the Greenpoint bar, The Springs.
Fornino’s featured menu at The Springs includes the following:
Eggplant Parmesan, Anna Rosé’s Meatballs, Arancini, and Fried Smashed Potatoes. Salads include the Chopped, Arugula, Kale, and Caesar. The pizza offerings include the marinara, made with tomato, oregano, garlic and olive oil; and the Margherita Classica, topped with tomato, mozzarella, basil, olive oil and parmesan.
Additional pizza options include the Genovese, Monzese, Pugliese, Calabrese, Salsiccia Di Pollo, Tre-Carni, and the famous Al Roker, made with sopressata picante, fontina, caramelized onion, roast pepper, tomato, mozzarella and rosemary. I especially love that any Pizza can be a gluten-free option.
The menu will be offered from 4 to 10 PM on weekdays and 4 to 11 PM on weekends. Perfect for after work plans or a nice dinner that won’t disappoint.
